Financial documents spread on a wooden table

Closed is not cured: verifying fintech remediations

Tracker status flips faster than control design changes. Re-performance catches the gap.

Verification Controls

Many remediation programs celebrate velocity: tickets closed, dashboards green, steering packs tidy. Supervisors and partner banks care about something else—whether the control still works when a different analyst runs the process or a release reshuffles permissions.

Closure verification starts with a stratified sample, not a random scroll through Jira. High-severity and customer-impacting findings deserve denser coverage. For each item, re-perform the original test and ask whether compensating measures are temporary patches dressed as permanent fixes.

When evidence fails, reopen with a clear owner and a new target date. Quiet reopen rates are a healthier signal than perfect closure percentages that never get challenged.
